Lawmakers aim to tackle a $118 million budget shortfall when they reconvene this week.

State Representative Guy Vander Linden says each chamber of the Iowa Statehouse and the governor’s office have all mostly laid out their plans for cuts, and beyond a few line items, there is a lot of agreement of where the spending should be reduced this fiscal year. He says the ceremonial beginnings, coupled with a wave of illness, political events, or holiday related absences have been consistent for the past two weeks, and the first full week of session related work will begin Monday.
