Three vehicles plus a plow truck in the ditch by Swan

The Marion County Engineer’s office reports that many area roadways, both paved and gravel, are still ice covered and dangerously slick.

There are multiple reports of vehicles in ditches, and vehicles stranded in the middle of icy roads unable to move. State and county plows are in operation. Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt tells KNIA/KRLS News that travel is not advised.

A snowplow was on its side on G-28 near Highway 14 after it slid just before 5:30 a.m., and another is on its side near Swan. A tow ban is in effect. Those who have to be on the roads are asked take extra time, and to give road crews and first responders plenty of room to work.

The one to count on for today’s severe weather and road condition information is KNIA/KRLS.
