The Pleasantville boys’ and girls’ basketball teams dropped a pair of games on the road at Clarke Monday night 46-40 for the girl’s and 55-53 in the boy’s game.

In the girls game the Trojans trailed by 21 points at half 30-9 but would battle back with a bigger lineup in the second half led by junior Kaylie Thomas with 14 points and sophomore Sydnee Mckinney with 8 points. The Trojans leading score on the year junior Kelsee Van Haalen was held in check with only 11 points after a 28 point outburst on Friday. The 21 point deficit proved to be too much to overcome as the Trojans could only get within four before falling 46-40. In the boys game the Trojans would be led by Senior Brady Elder with 24 points but it would prove to be not enough as no other Trojan had more than 10 points on the night. The boys would fall 55-53 making the Trojans 8-5 on the year with their biggest loss being by only five points. The Trojans boys’ and girls’ squads will have to shake off the close losses and turn right back around and head to Martensdale-St. Marys tonight as they get set for a match up with the Blue Devils. The Trojans were swept at home the last time they faced the Blue Devils with the boy’s game being decided in overtime. The Trojans and Blue Devils hit the hardwood at 6:15 p.m. with the tip off of the girl’s game and the boys game to follow.
