Water quality initiatives will likely be a priority for legislators in the 2017 session.

After the Republican party won the majority of seats in the Senate in November, Senator Ken Rozenboom is now the head of the Natural Resources Committee. He tells KNIA/KRLS News that some additional funding is needed to help improve water quality statewide.

“The first order of business is to identify what problem we’re trying to solve because many people have different ideas of what water quality looks like,” Rozenboom says. “So I think we need to focus whatever money that we do spend on the activities that support the Nutrient Reduction Strategy.”

Rozenboom adds that any new money spent on initiatives needs to be targeted in a way to directly address the most needed areas first. Hear more from Senator Rozenboom on Let’s Talk Pella.
