9 Area Wrestlers Set For 2A District at Knoxville

The final step in the road to Wells Fargo Arena is today for area wrestlers. Knoxville is a host site of the class 2A district and four Panther grapplers along with five P-C-M wrestlers are vying for a spit at the state meet, but must finish in their top two of their weight class to qualify. 145 pounds is one weight class to watch with number three ranked Xavier Miller of P-C-M and fifth ranked Joe Hollinrake of Knoxville, who are the two favorites. They will have to contend with Justin Smith of Winterset and Bryce McKim of Albia who’s combined records of all four is 161-27. 160 pounds could be another weight class to watch as P-C-M’s Lucas Roland, who is ranked fifth will battle seventh ranked Chance Rice of Saydel, along with qualifiers Chance Masters of Central Decatur and Kyle Sinnott of Albia. Match ups will be decided before the meet. Other are wrestling action at Knoxville today are Riley Spaur at 152, Matthew Landsperger at 195, and Chase Bellon at 220 pounds of from Knoxville. From P-C-M Payton Drake at 106 pounds, Chase Shirk at 138, and Jarron Trausch at 170 pounds will battle for a state meet birth. The action gets underway at noon at Knoxville High School.
