Knoxville Fire and Rescue and the Knoxville Police Department responded to a garage fire located at 801 E. Washington St. in Knoxville just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Chief Jim Mitchell told KNIA/KRLS News the fire originated from leaves being burned by the neighbor which blew into the side of a drum of recycled oil that was next to the garage. Once the oil was ignited it burned portions of the garage as well as damaging part of the owner’s vehicle. According to Mitchell the fire took longer to extinguish due to the burning oil but was later extinguished with use of a dry suppression agent.
