The class 2-A #6 Pella Christian girls became only the second team to take a halftime lead against class 5-A #1 Indianola, but the Indians fought back to win 56-47 as part of a doubleheader broadcast live on 92.1 KRLS. In the nightcap, the Eagle boys kept Indianola winless in their first year in the Little Hawkeye Conference, 55-50.

The Eagle girls out-rebounded the Indians 23-15 and forced 10 turnovers in the first half as they built a 29-26 lead.

The switch flipped in the third quarter, however, as Indianola grabbed a whopping 19 rebounds in the frame, giving themselves second, third, fourth, and even fifth chance attempts on the offensive end.

The Indians went on a 10-0 run to start the quarter, and never trailed again.

Kaley Wilson scored 12 points to lead P.C., while Cailey Terpstra added 11 points and Morgan Fopma and Isabella Baugh each grabbed 9 rebounds.

Pella Christian falls to 12-6 overall and 5-6 in LHC play.

Pella Christian’s boys jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the game’s first 6:37, only to see Indianola eventually claim an 18-17 lead midway through the second.

The Eagles took a slim 23-21 advantage into intermission, built it back to double figures, and then put the game on ice on back-to-back fourth quarter three-pointers by Alex Pringle and Graham Howerzyl.

Levi Jungling scored 19 points and Jackson Flagel and Pringle each added nine.

The Eagles improve to 13-4 and 7-4 in the conference, snapping their three game LHC losing streak.

Both Pella Christian teams will play Grinnell at home Friday night for homecoming.
