ORIGINAL POST AT 7:30 — One person has died as a result of injuries sustained in a single-vehicle rollover east of Pella.

Multiple emergency crews responded to numerous 911 calls at approximately 6:00 p.m. this evening for a white pickup that left the roadway near mile marker 46 in the westbound lanes of Highway 163. The truck came to a rest on its top in the north-side ditch.

Pella Ambulance, Pella Rural Fire, Pella Police, and the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office all responded and assisted with the rescue attempt. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the cause, which has not been officially released. Visibility was reduced due to blowing snow and Highway 163 was partially covered with snow and ice at the time of the reported incident.
