For the eight seniors on the Pella Christian boys basketball team, their entire hoops careers have been pointing towards the next two weeks.

With high hopes as a state title contender, the Eagles will get a chance to punch their ticket to the Well tomorrow night, then hopefully improve upon their third place finish each of the last two seasons.

Coach Larry Hessing says that they can’t worry about that right now – they have to keep their focus what’s right in front of them.

“We just have to keep doing what we’ve been doing. We’ve talked about the process from the beginning. And maybe that’s a cliché or an overused word, but really you have to enjoy what we’re doing, prepare for the next game, and even though you have that goal in the back of your mind – that big picture in the back of your mind – it’s one step at a time.”

The Eagles will play Highland tomorrow night at Oskaloosa at 7:00 in the substate final, with the winner advancing to the state tournament the week of March 7th.
