It’s homecoming tonight at Pella Christian, and the Eagles welcome Grinnell to town for doubleheader basketball action.

The girls game features the sixth ranked team in class 2-A, Pella Christian, against the third ranked team in class 4-A, the Tigers.

Pella Christian went blow-for-blow with class 5-A number one Indianola on Tuesday night, falling short in the second half. Coach Kevin Van Maanen says that it’s going to be an equally difficult task tonight.

“Grinnell is a scary ball club, and I feel like they’re just as good (as Indianola). They’ve got all the tools and weapons – shooters, drivers and post players. They’re just as dangerous as Indianola, and we’re going to have our hands full tonight.”

The Pella Christian boys ended their three-game LHC losing streak on Tuesday against the Indians and hope to keep it going tonight against Grinnell.

The Eagles beat the Tigers earlier this season, but Coach Larry Hessing reminded his club that they defeated Norwalk the first time around, then got beat soundly in the rematch last week.

Opening tip of the girls game is at 6:15 at Pella Christian High School. Join Cory Houser and Wynne Veenstra for the play-by-play on 92.1 KRLS, beginning with pregame coverage at 6:00.
