The Pella Lady Dutch are competing for their second-straight trip to Wells Fargo Arena tonight when they host Ballard in the Class 4A Regional Finals.

No. 4 Pella is searching for the 10th-ever state appearance in program history as they chase an elusive first-ever title. The Bombers have made Wells Fargo Arena a home away from home, making 13 of their 15 all-time trips in the past 20 years. Up until this season, Ballard had complete control of the series with the ladies in green, winning nine in a row since 2009. However, Pella was able to lock down a younger Bombers squad to the tune of a 49-23 victory in December.

Senior Point Guard Katie Vander Molen says despite the youth of their opponents, the girls have to respect the athleticism of this year’s Ballard team.

“We’ll definitely have to handle their scrappy defense, and they’ve always got the long arms and just the tough defensive press,” she says. “I just think we’ll have to play with that and play good defense.”

Coverage of the Class 4A Regional Final begins at 6:30 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS, with opening tip at 7.
