No. 4 Pella made short work of their girls regional opener against Bondurant-Farrar in a postseason game heard live on 92.1 KRLS 69-11 Saturday night.

Pella was dominant on defense from the opening tip, stealing the first five Lady Jay possessions and turning them into points, and held Bondurant scoreless in the first and third quarters.

Senior Ciara Buchheit tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they aimed to be intense when trying some new looks in their press, which allowed them to get the early jump.

“We wanted to try something new this game and I think it really worked,” she says. “Coach Garland wants to try and give us different plays to incorporate on the floor and we executed really well.”

Katie Vander Molen and Chloe Van Vliet each had 16 points and four steals. The Lady Dutch finished with 18 successful pickpocket attempts.

Pella is 18-4 and hosts Ballard in the Regional Final to go to their second straight state tournament trip Tuesday night.
