For the second straight season, the Pleasantville Trojans have drawn Pride of Iowa Conference rival Martensdale-St. Mary’s on the road in the first round of regional play coming up in two weeks.

The two rivals have faced off five times in the past two years already, with their sixth matchup on the way, and the results have been an even split. Pleasantville Head Coach Aaron Fichter tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that the budding rivalry is fun because the teams trade blows with each other.

Fichter
“The last two years we’ve split with them in the regular season, and last year was a highly competitive game where we came up just short in the fourth. So I think it’s exciting that we have a chance to continue to build a rivalry with that group. It just should be a fun and competitive game for us”

The Trojans face off with the Blue Devils on February 11th, but next play Mount Ayr tomorrow night at home.
