With a promising summer on the horizon, a group of Pella Christian softball seniors made their intentions to play beyond high school known over the winter.

Ace pitcher Emma Schnell is heading to Northwestern in Orange City, her backstop Lizzy Van Manen is heading to Northeast Mississippi Community College, and outfielders Natalie Vos and Kirsten Vander Hart are heading to Dordt College together. Vos and Vander Hart both tell KNIA/KRLS Sports they look forward to continuing to play the game they love.

“I’m just really excited, I loved our team this past year, and I’m can’t wait to have a whole new group,” Vos says.

“I really like the coach and I’m excited for a new opportunity to just play more softball,” Vander Hart says.

Schnell was 16-8 with 171 strikeouts in 153 2/3 innings last summer, Van Manen and Vos tied for the team lead with six home runs apiece, and Vander Hart tacked on 14 runs and played strong outfield defense.

The four are returning this summer from an Eagles team that finished 21-8 and fell in the Regional Final to Regina in 2016.
