This past week the Iowa House Government Oversight Committee received a report from the Ombudsman’s Office citing several areas where some of the state’s professional licensing boards have operated in an unaccountable manner.

Representative Greg Heartsill tells KNIA/KRLS News the report showed incomplete investigations, delegation of board decision making authority in an inappropriate manner, poor documentation of board and staff deliberation, potential conflicts of interest affecting complaint procedures, unprofessional behavior, and dismissal of cases with little or no explanation. Heartsill says the House Government Oversight Committee will look further into the report by having the Ombudsman specify the instances of unaccountable manner, which will take place in a private setting.
