Kyle Weldon of Knoxville has filed a lawsuit accusing two former Des Moines police officers of planting narcotics in an evidence bag following his arrest in 2015.

Weldon was arrested for possession of methamphetamines and served 31 days in jail before being exonerated by a Des Moines judge in January of 2017. The exoneration came after the judge in the case acknowledged that police had indeed planted evidence. The two officers in the case, Tyson Teut and Joshua Judge, resigned last year amid allegations of planting the narcotics. Weldon, who has multiple convictions in Marion County for theft in the 2nd and 3rd degree as well as possession of a controlled substance, filed the lawsuit in February accusing Polk County, City of Des Moines Police Department as well as the former officers Judge and Teut of multiple offenses including false imprisonment, false arrest and malicious prosecution.
