With new gun legislation approved by a Republican led subcommittee last Thursday, local area law enforcement officers have had a few days to try to digest what the potential changes would mean.
Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada tells KNIA/KRLS News he is very cautious about the changes this bill includes. Losada goes on to say the new gun law legislation would prohibit local governments from passing gun restrictions, potentially allowing guns to be carried in courthouses and other emotionally charged areas that could create a potential hazard for judicial employees and an increased need for law enforcement security.
