Many big issues expected to be addressed in the 2017 Iowa Legislative Session had legislation pass this past week.

State Senator Ken Rozenboom tells KNIA/KRLS News a voter ID law, a bill legalizing fireworks, restrictions to traffic cameras in the state, and distracted driving legislation all made their way through the Senate floor.

Rozenboom says the most controversial issue generating considerable debate was identification requirements for Iowa voters. He argues the bill will increase voter turnout, while opponents of the measures say it will suppress voters who don’t have access to photo identification.
