While soccer, tennis and golf didn’t get started until just recently, the track and field teams at Pella Christian High School have been practicing for almost a month.

The Eagles have a veteran core that features several athletes with state meet experience, but coach Keith Anderson they also have a glut of freshman talent that is taking advantage of the extra work.

“We’ve been outside and have been able to be on the track and have been throwing and doing some field events. I think we’re further ahead this season than we have been previous seasons just because of the weather. Right now, these last few days, we’ve been working on putting together some relays and some handoffs and fine tuning the things we haven’t gotten to yet.”

Both Pella Christian track teams open their season Tuesday. The boys will be at home, while the girls travel to Chariton.
