The Pella girls tennis team is returning two state qualifiers and the majority of their varsity roster from one year ago. They also added significant depth for the upcoming spring.

Just before the school year, Pella Christian No. 1 starter and state qualifier Brooke Jorgensen moved to Pella Schools for the academic year.

Lady Dutch Head Coach Josh McCollam says their top of the lineup was already strong with returners Lily Roozeboom and Bronwyn Metcalf, who also qualified for the individual state tournament last year.

“It’s a good problem to have when your one and two are both state qualifiers. Add the three in there, because Bronwyn Metcalf is a state qualifier as well. I think our top of the lineup will be really tough and I think we could bounce around a little bit. They could all play in the one to three range as they do challenge matches and beat each other and lead the team with that experience.”

Pella begins the girls tennis season tomorrow when they host county rival Knoxville.
