The Pella High track and field teams both have two indoor meets under the belt early this season.

The Little Dutch and Lady Dutch ran last Thursday at the Little Hawkeye Conference Indoor Meet in Grinnell, and then this Tuesday in a large field event at Iowa State University.

Boys Coach Brent Van Hauen says that they’re not really paying attention to times and heights and distances in the indoor season, and he really doesn’t even like bringing along his stopwatch.

“We’re just kind of looking at ‘how are the guys going to compete?’. When you’re running a 400 and a guy pulls up besides you, are you digging down and reaching for something more. That’s what we want to see out of those meets.”

There’s one more indoor meet on the schedule this Friday at Central College, then the outdoor season opens on March 30th at Waukee.
