A trio of local boys basketball players have been named to the all-state basketball teams by the Iowa Newspaper Association.

Pella senior forward Ryan Van Wyk was a first-team selection in class 3-A, while Pella Christian seniors Levi Jungling and David Kacmarynski were chosen in class 2-A. Jungling was a first team pick, while Kacmarynski was tabbed for the third team.

Van Wyk’s 20.6 points per game led the Little Dutch and was ninth best in all of class 3-A. His 514 points this season was the third most in the Mark Core era at Pella High, and moved him into second place on the career list as well. He helped Pella to the class 3-A state tourney, where they lost to Sergeant Bluff-Luton in the quarterfinals.

Jungling, PC’s second all-time leading scorer, paced the Eagles with 17.4 points per game, while Kacmarysnki was the second leading scorer at 14.2 and leading rebounder at 6.4. The duo lifted Pella Christian to the class 2-A state championship game, where they fell to Western Christian last Friday night.

Other players of area interest to make the INA all-state team were Garrett Sturtz (1st) and Connor Gholson (3rd) of Newton in 4-A, Luke Vaske (1st), Cade McKnight (2nd) and Sam Allen (2nd) of Grinnell, Trevor Grove (3rd) of Dallas Center-Grimes and Lim Chuol (3rd) of Chariton in 3-A and Grant DeMeulenare (1st) of Grandview Christian and Jesse Van Wyk (1st) of Lynnville-Sully in class 1-A.
