Changes to Workmans Compensation laws in Iowa have passed the Iowa House of Representatives.

District 79 Representative Guy Vander Linden says the legislation was heavily amended this week prior to passing the main floor.

He says the changes removed proposed restrictions on disability care for those over the age of 67 and tweaked language in regards to shoulder injuries.

Vander Linden supported the amendment and the bill in its new form, saying workmans comp claims became too expensive for employers, and the new legislation will balance the scales without hurting employees. Critics of the bill claim it will jeopardize workmans’ compensation claims for those who are injured in the workplace.
