The 14th-ranked Central College softball team looks to clinch at least a share of second place in the Iowa Conference today when they host Nebraska Wesleyan.

The Dutch are 27-7 overall and 9-3 in IIAC play. With Luther’s sweep of Wartburg yesterday, George Wares’ Dutch need to win two of their last four to tie Coe for second place, or three or four to finish in solo second.

In addition to the Prairie Wolves this afternoon, Central will finish the regular season Saturday against Dubuque – two teams towards the bottom of the league standings.

WARES ON FINISH
“We have to stay focused and, for lack of a better word, we have to stay professional and business like and realize what we have to do. They both have a solid pitcher, and there’s nothing that’s going to be easy. As we are watching scores from across the country, people are getting beat. The key is to win the games you have to win, and we’ve been doing that.”

First pitch of today’s doubleheader between Central and Nebraska Wesleyan will start at 2:00. You can hear game two live on www.kniakrls.com on our KNIA3 stream.
