The 2016 girls state-runners up picked up where they left off in their season opener Monday night.

The Pella Lady Dutch routed Marshalltown 6-1 at home.

Pella had five different players score their six tallies, led by a pair from Katie Vander Molen, and single marks from Grace Held, Ciara Buchheit, Maddie Canfield, and Bellara Huang. Senior Alice Lickteig tells KNIA/KRLS Sports she and many of the girls were anxious to get the season started and happy to do so with a lopsided win.

Pella’s girls are 1-0 and travel to Bondurant Thursday.
