It was a banner day for many local track and field teams at Pella Christian’s annual invitational Tuesday.

Pella, Pella Christian, PCM, Pleasantville, and Melcher-Dallas were among the field of ten central Iowa teams competing on Eagle Lane.

The Lady Dutch dominated the field among the girls with a team score of 215, followed by Pella Christian in 3rd at 101, and Pleasantville at 8th with 33. Pella earned 1st place finishes in 10 of the 19 events; Pella Christian’s Lizzy Van Maanen was tops in the discus and Morgan Fopma was 1st in the high jump and 400 meter hurdles.

PCM’s boys came within a few points of taking home the crown at 134.33 team points, with Lynnville-Sully taking the top crown. The Mustangs first place finishes included Preston VanWyke, Chris Ellens in the 32000, and the 4×100 meter relay, with seven other top three finishes. Pella’s boys were 3rd at 121, with top place honors, including 1-2 finishes in the 1600 meter with Nick Bernhagen and Blaise Winegardner and in the shot put with Tyson Wassenaar and Nick Dejong. The Eagles were 5th as a team at 84, as Eddie Pringle took the crown in the 200 meter and numerous athletes shaved seconds off of their times. Pleasantville was 6th at 72.33 points as well.
