Lori Witt, associate professor of history at Central College, has been appointed to the State Historical Society of Iowa board of trustees.

Witt will serve a three-year term and help advocate for Iowa’s historical assets. Witt is the only new member this year.

The State Historical Society of Iowa has preserved and provided access to Iowa’s historical resources since 1857. The society maintains a museum, two research centers, a preservation office and eight historic sites.

Witt has taught history at Central since 2003. Every year, Witt leads the college in hosting a district National History Day competition for hundreds of Iowa students. She is also faculty adviser for the History Club and the national history honor society, Phi Alpha Theta.
