On Monday the Knoxville City Council agreed to appoint Megan Suhr to the vacant city council position.

The council decided on Suhr after interviewing three other candidates and choosing her to represent Knoxville. The appointment of Suhr comes as the city council elected to go with a special appointment rather than a special election. Knoxville City Manager Aaron Adams tells KNIA/KRLS News the city decided on a special appointment because the term to fill the vacant spot is only until November and it would cost the city approximately $6,000 to hold a special election. The council will next meet on Monday, May 1st and will vote at that time to appoint Suhr to the council. If the vote passes, Suhr will then be sworn in and fill the vacant seat until elections in November.
