National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is this week.
The week is the annual opportunity to thank 911 public safety telecommunicators, technicians, trainers, supervisors, managers and other 911 professionals across the country who protect the lives of the public and first responders every day. Head dispatcher Martha Dykstra with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office tells KNIA/KRLS News she didn’t get into dispatching for the recognition or appreciation, she wanted to help and serve the public. Telecommunicators week runs from April 9th to April 15th.
