In its Little Hawkeye Conference finale, the Pella High boys golf team was the middle man last night at Bos Landen, beating Grinnell but falling to Oskaloosa.

The Indians shot a 169, Pella shot 185, and the Tigers carded a 199.

For the second straight meet, freshman John Oltman had the best score for the Little Dutch, shooting a 43.

With five of his top eight players either freshman or sophomores, Coach Bob Fessler didn’t set teams goals at the beginning of the season. He says that now is the time to do so.

“Now, after four weeks of having competition, let’s try as a group of young men to decide how good we can be, and let’s push the limits – let’s see what we can do. It’s really getting fun at this point, because you have a lot of men who know they’re working hard and can see the improvement. We’ll see where the limit is set, or if there is.”

Pella finishes LHC competition at 2-4, and now prepares for the conference meet on May first.
