At their home opener, Pella’s boys soccer team hosted Fairfield and earned a 3-1 victory last night.

Head Coach Mark Solomon says Pella got started strong in the first half and went ahead 2-0, but the Trojens possessed the ball well in the second half. Ben Nelson scored twice for the Dutch and Nathan Leathers tacked on a tally of his own. The Little Dutch are 1-1 and host crosstown rival Pella Christian Tuesday.

The Pella Lady Dutch dominated Bondurant-Farrar 11-1 on the soccer pitch to move to 2-0 on the season, finishing the contest with 1:45 remaining. Grace Held racked up five goals, including the first four of the contest, and Maddie Canfield had a hat trick. Pella next host their home invitational Saturday morning, with North Polk at 9 a.m. and Des Moines Roosevelt at 10:45.
