Both Pella Christian soccer teams showed off some of their improvement with a pair of victories over Indianola last night. The Eagles girls won 2-0, and the boys 3-1.

For the girls, it was the program’s first Little Hawkeye Conference win since the 2015 season reboot. Cailey Terpstra gave the Eagles a 1-0 and also assisted on a score with a corner kick to Jacque Lensing.

“We are just settling into what we are doing with our midfield and forwards play,” Girls Coach Mike Buchheit says. “Lindsay Breon, Molly Bolt and Laura DeZwarte were all bringing a lot of offensive pressure as strikers. We haven’t been able to be this strong up to the front line before tonight.”

The Pella Christian boys also played solid soccer against the Indians. PC went up 2-0 with two goals by Sam Brouwer, both assisted by Alex Pringle. With 21 minutes left in the second half, Captain Sam Dahm lobbed a beautiful service to Pringle off a free kick that Alex was able to finish and make 3-0.

“There was great play at all levels and throughout entire game,” Head Coach Gerrit Brouwer says. “It was a beautiful game to watch as a coach.”

PC’s girls host Ballard Thursday, the boys are off until they host Grinnell Monday.
