Pella Christian’s girls soccer team dropped a hard-fought 2-0 decision last night at Norwalk, while the boys were beaten by the defending class 2-A champion Warriors in Pella, 9-0.

Girls coach Mike Buchheit tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that the Eagles had several early scoring chances come up empty, and the game was scoreless at halftime.

Norwalk took advantage of a bad rotation by the PC defense to score in the 45th minute, and after several Eagle scoring chances fell short, the Warriors put it away with a goal on a corner kick in the 78th minute.

On the boys side, Norwalk built a 6-0 lead at halftime and cruised to the 9-0 win.

Despite the lopsided loss, coach Garritt Brouwer said that he was proud of the grit that his players showed through the end of the match against a great opponent.

The Pella Christian girls fall to 2-3 on the season, while the boys are 4-3.
