The Pella High girls track team was busy Saturday at the 108th Drake Relays, and the Lady Dutch relay teams had the most success.

The 4×200 meter relay team of Kiki Pingel, Annika Pingel, Paighton Malek and Emily Vos finished sixth in a time of 1:44.83.

The sprint medley unit of Emma Thoreson, Malek, Vos and Annika Pingel was seventh, turning in a time of 1:51.35.

In the 4×100 prelims, the Lady Dutch had the eighth best qualifying team, good enough for a spot in today’s finals. The team of Thoreson, Annika Pingel, Malek and Vos ran a 49.69.

The 4×400 relay team was off the pace needed to qualify for the finals. Kiki Pingel, Elsie Thoreson, Caroline McMartin and Lindsey Blommers ran the 20th best qualifying time – 4:07.32.

In individual events, Vos was 10th in the 100 meters prelims (12.53) and Annika Pingel finished 18th (12.77), both missing out on the finals. Thoreson turned in the ninth fastest qualifying time in the 100-meter hurdles (15.14), just one one-hundredth away from the finals. Kaeleigh DeWaard’s first of three shotput throws was her best, and her mark of 35 feet six-and-a-quarter inches was good for 23rd place. Emily Holterhaus cleared the opening height of five feet in the high jump, but couldn’t clear five-two and finished tied for 20th.

For the Pella boys, Tyson Wassenaar competed in the shotput. He got better as the day went on, with his third and final toss of 152 feet six inches being by far his best, and good for a 12th place showing.

Pella Christian’s girls were 55th in the 4×100 prelims. The team of Chloe Morgan, Mary Kate Bandstra, Erica Nikkel and Evie Armstrong ran a time of 52.15 seconds.

The PCM boys 4×100 meter relay team ran a time of 46.10 seconds in the prelims. The quartet of Luke Greiner, Preston Van Wyk, Brayton Van Dyke and Noah Anderson finished 67th.
