Pella High School seniors spent their Friday morning cleaning up the community as part of their annual service day.

Students stopped at various schools, non-profit organizations, and churches to lend a hand with yard work, planting, sorting, and other projects.

Seniors Kaylee Butler and Jenny Wieser were among a group helping at The Well Thrift Store.

“I love it because we weren’t forced to do this, you can sign up yourself, and I love seeing people go out and serve the community from the goodness of their heart, no because their told to” Butler says.

“It’s a really great day, and we’re helping a lot of organizations in a lot of different places throughout the community,” Weiser says.

Both have volunteered throughout their time in high school, with Butler also spending time at the Bibles for Missions Thrift Store and reading to children, and Weiser also helps at her church, St. Mary’s.

“I think it’s kind of nice to leave your mark before you go,” Butler says. “So I’m going out of state for college, but it’s nice to know when I come back, people might know me from the volunteering I’ve done.”
