No. 2 in Class 2A Pella traveled to the tough Nevada girls soccer invitational Saturday morning.

The Lady Dutch won two of three, falling to the host No. 7 in 1A Cubs for the first loss of 2017.

As they had through the first six games of the year, Pella made short work of Waterloo Columbus in the first contest of the day in a 6-0 win. The Lady Dutch kept the pace up in their second match with a 4-0 over Southeast Polk.

Game number three against Nevada proved to be the most difficult yet of the spring, with Pella unable to crack a Nevada defense sagging back in heavy coverage. The Lady Dutch dropped their first match of the year 1-0.

Goals on the day were credited to Grace Held, Hailey Kowzan, Kiara Bradley, Lexi Brown, Josie Lickteig, Erica Bossard, and Bellara Huang.

Pella is 8-1 and returns home Tuesday to host Norwalk.
