For the second straight year, Pella was the class of the field at the 52nd Panther Relays sweeping the boys and girls team championships. The girls rolled to a 66 point win over runner-up Mount Vernon while the boys raced by runner-up Oskaloosa 141-117. Knoxville finished sixth in the girls competition while Pella Christian was fifth. The Panthers placed fourth in the boy’s standings and the Eagles were sixth. The Pella ladies won four of the seven relay events and swept the open hurdles events with Emma Thoreson winning the 100 and Kiki Pingel taking the 400 version. Knoxville’s Katie Keitges took care of things in the 800 and 1500 meter runs winning by comfortable margins. Pella Christian’s lone champion was Elizabeth Van Manen in the discus. On the boys side, the Little Dutch scattered wins throughout the meet as Avery Van Zee took both the 100 and 400 races while Pella’s Nick Bernhagen swept the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. Knoxville’s Trent Davis was productive winning the 100 hurdles and the high jump while Knoxville went one/two in the discus with Alex Buckley winning and Connor Crozier taking second. For Pella Christian it was Eddie Pringle winning the 200.
