With both teams previously struggling to score runs in Iowa Conference play, the Simpson Storm Softball Team had their bats awaken in a doubleheader sweep of Dubuque yesterday on the road, 11-3 and 8-5 respectively.

In game one, the Storm struck for a run in the first and a pair in the third, and added a three run home run from Ashley Allen in the fourth. Dubuque scored three runs to make it close, but a three run bases clearing triple from Annie Stolte cemented the Storm win. Madi Rasumusson went 5-5 in the game with 4 runs scored.

In game two, Simpson fought back from a one run deficit twice to tie the game in the fifth, and then exploded for six runs in the fifth on another three run Stolte extra base hit. Maggie Long picked up the win in the circle in game one going the distance, with Madi Rasumusson matching in game two.

The Storm improve to 8-26, and 3-11 in Iowa Conference play, and take the week off before taking on Luther next weekend.
