A senior softball ace pitcher and a freshman men’s golfer from Central College were selected as the Iowa Conference performers of the week in their respective sports Monday.

Karly Olson (senior, Winterset HS) was picked as the league’s softball pitcher of the week and Nick Walker (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley HS) was chosen as the men’s golf performer of the week.

Earning wins over Grinnell College and No. 10 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Olson held opponents to a .208 batting average. In 12.2 innings of work, she struck out nine batters while allowing two runs on 10 hits and four walks. She’s a two-time recipient of the weekly award, previously being cited on April 11, 2016.

At the William Woods Invitational at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Missouri, Walker was the top Dutch finisher. Playing 36 holes in one day, he shot 73-71—144 to finish in a tie for 12th place. He finished seven shots off the lead as the Dutch (305-290—595) took ninth in the 14-team field.
