The Central College women’s golf team came one spot short of its goal of making the cut at the NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championships in Houston, Texas.

The Dutch finished 16th, and the top 15 teams survived yesterday’s cut to play today’s final round.

Central entered the third round in 15th place, and fired its third straight round in the 330s, this time a 337. But Illinois Wesleyan, which trailed the Dutch by nine shots after two rounds, exploded for a 316 to leap 12 shots in front of Central and claim the final spot inside the cut line.

All five Central golfers were in the 80s yesterday, with Brittany Coppess leading the way at eight-over par 80. She tied Cierra Pulse for Central’s best three-round score, as each finished 30-over par 246.
