Four Central College players, including a pair of newcomers, were named to the NFCA Division III All-Midwest Region softball squad.

Senior Karly Olson, the Iowa Conference pitcher of the year who also served as a designated player, was a first-team honoree as a utility player and is now under consideration for All-America honors.

Freshman center fielder Sara Tallman of Pella was a second-team pick while sophomore transfer shortstop Emily Wilson and junior second baseman Paige Dickel received third-team honors.

Olson, a three-time league pitcher of the week award winner in April, posted a 16-5 record with a 1.97 earned run average. She was also among Central’s top hitters with a .349 mark, belting a team-high 12 doubles with one home run and 32 RBI while posting a .980 fielding percentage.

Tallman broke the school freshman season hits record with 58, the third-highest overall hit total in school history. Also a first-team all-league pick, Tallman led the Dutch with a .408 mark, scoring a team-best 33 runs with seven doubles, 15 RBI and 24 stolen bases.

Central posted a 32-10 record and earned a record 28th NCAA Division III tournament berth. They were eliminated from postseason competition in the double-elimination four-team Pella, Iowa Regional this past weekend.
