Central College will send five competitors to the NCAA Division III track and field championships this Thursday through Saturday at Geneva, Ohio.

The elite field was announced yesterday, and the top 20 performers in each event were accepted for the meet.

The Dutch landed two spots in the men’s high jump. Will Daniels and Logan Mulford are seeded seventh and eighth, respectively, with qualifying marks of 6 feet, 9.75 inches each. Ryan Kruse advanced in the decathlon where he’s ranked 16th with 6,391 points and Mark Fairley is seeded 19th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:12.07).

In the women’s competition, Hope Heitman qualified in the 400 meters. She’s seeded 13th at 55.92 seconds. Heitman is a returning all-America honoree, finishing seventh in both the 4×100 and 4×400-meter relays last year.

The national meet is being staged at SPIRE Institute, a U.S. Olympic training site, with the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and the University of Mount Union serving as hosts.
