One Central College women’s track and field All-American is headed back to the Division III outdoor championships, while another wrapped up her illustrious career at the Augustana Twilight Qualifier Thursday night.

An All-American in the 4×400-meter relay at the 2016 outdoor meet, Hope Heitman is in line to return to the national meet this season. After a career-best time of 55.92 in the 400-meter dash last weekend at the Iowa Conference Championships, she is likely qualified in that event.

Attempting to qualify in the 200-meter dash as well, she was unable to improve upon her time and finished third in 25.06.

A 2015 indoor All-American, Lorell Stuht was unable to find the big throw she needed to qualify in the hammer throw. She placed 10th in 150 feet, 9 inches.

In a different part of Illinois, men’s runner Mark Fairley won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Gregory Invitational in Naperville and will have to wait and see if his time earns him a spot at nationals.

In order to qualify, individuals need to be in the top-20 nationally in their event. Fairley improved his best time of the year by nearly five seconds to jump up to the 19th fastest time in the country.

The NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held next week at Mount Union in Ohio.
