It was an Albia sweep for the South Central Conference track and field meet last night in Knoxville, but the Panthers were right behind the Blue Demons in both boys and girls races.

Knoxville led most of the way until Albia recovered in the 4×100 and 400 races to win by eight points, while the girls took home the title with a 30-point cushion. On the boys side, Knoxville had winners with Trent Davis in the high jump and long jump while Knoxville completed the field events sweep with Travis Peterson winning the shot put Conner Crozier taking the discus. Coach Eric Kellar told KNIA/KRLS Sports he was very happy with his team’s performance. or the girls, Abbey Jackson won the 200, Katie Keitges took the conference title in the 400 while Cassidy Pearson for the second straight season was conference champion in the discus. Coach Brad McWilliams told KNIA/KRLS it came down to Albia having a little more depth as most events. The Panthers will head to their final regular season meet at Pella on Monday then they get ready of Thursday’s State qualifer
