On May 8th, Vickie Reed took her spot on the Knoxville School Board replacing long-term board member Leslie Miller.

Less than a month later the Knoxville School Board is once again looking to fill a vacant seat after an unexpected resignation from Mike Helle left the board with an open spot. Superintendent Cassi Pearson tells KNIA/KRLS News the boards plans to fill the open seat with Dawn Rankin. Rankin was apart of the last interview process which took place less than a month ago. At the time Rankin was the board’s second choice to the eventual winner Vickie Reed. With the addition of Rankin the board will now feature three women board members giving the board a female majority. Board Secretary Craig Mobley says it’s the first time in his 15 years of working for the district that the school board has a female majority.
