The Iowa Data Center has released the latest city population estimates and trends.

Earlier this year, the latest estimates showed a slight decline in population for most counties in the area, including Marion, Jasper, Mahaska, Monroe, and Lucas.

For cities in Marion County, the population slightly grew from estimates in 2015 to 2016 in Pella (+36) and in areas outside of incorporated communities (+39), however, slight decline was reported in Knoxville (-18). The six year trend since 2010 census data showed a drop of 99 people in the Tulip City and of 72 in Knoxville. Pleasantville had a decline of 35 during that same time frame; all other communities have remained steady.
