Regular season champion Luther scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to knock off Central 4-3 in the Iowa Conference tournament championship game Saturday in Decorah as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

Earlier in the day, the 20th-ranked Dutch beat Loras 8-0 in six innings in the semifinals as Karly Olson tossed a four-hit shutout. Tabitha Taylor was three-for-three with a double, a run scored, an RBI and walk, and Sarah Bowen was two-for-two with two runs, two stolen bases, an RBI and a walk.

In the title game, the third-ranked Norse took a one run lead twice, only to see Central rally to force extra innings. Emily Wilson and Olson cracked back-to-back doubles with two outs in the ninth off Luther ace Samantha Bratland to give Central its only lead of the game. The Norse then loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom half, got a sac fly to tie the game, and Natalie Stockman’s RBI single was the game winner.

Central is now 32-8 on the season, and a virtual lock to receive an at-large bid to the 62-team NCAA Division III tournament. The field will be announced Monday, with action taking place next weekend at 16 regional sites around the country.
