A pair of pitching gems led the PCM baseball and softball teams to victory last night in their season openers against Greene County, the boys winning 1-0 and the girls 7-6.

Noah Henkenius went six innings and gave up only two hits for the win, with Derek Brown picking up the save. Preston Van Wyk scored the games only run, hitting a single, followed by stealing second and third, and then scoring on a wild pitch. The softball squad fell behind in the fourth inning 6-1, before a six run seventh gave the Mustangs the lead. Jayci Vos went 4-4 on the day, and Kayla Jennings pitched a complete game striking out 15 for the win. Both Mustangs squads are now 1-0, with the baseball team headed to South Tama tonight, while the softball squad has to wait until tomorrow to take on Roland-Story.
