Newton upended the Pella Christian boys soccer team last night on Eagle Lane, 3-2.

The Eagles held a 1-0 advantage at the half, with the lone tally coming on an Alex Pringle penalty kick that was awarded when the Cardinals took down a Pella Christian player in the box.

Newton got a penalty kick of their own early in the second half to tie the score, then added two more goals to open up a 3-1 lead.

Skylar Doland scored in the 77th minute off an assist from Lucas Jansen to trim the lead to one, and a late Eagle attack was denied on an offsides call.

Last night’s match was the final regular season contest for the Pella Christian boys. They finished at 9-6, and will open up the postseason Monday night against Albia, who they just beat 2-1 this past Monday night.
