The Pella Christian boys and girls soccer teams found themselves on the wrong end of Dallas Center-Grimes Tuesday night.

The Eagles boys fell 3-0 on the road and the girls dropped a close one to the Fillies 1-0 at Eagle Lane. Boys Coach Gerrit Brouwer says the Eagles boys played really well against a tough 2A team, keeping it scoreless in the first half while also creating numerous scoring opportunities. DCG scored in the 53rd minute and again in the 62nd minute when the affects of having two games back to back started to show.

“We pushed players forward in final 12 minutes and again executed good shots on goal, but then conceded the third goal in DCG counter-attack,” Brouwer says.

Girls Head Coach Mike Buchheit says the PC Girls were able to out shoot conference foe DCG 9 shots to 8 and had several balls within inches of crossing the goal line, but in the end the Eagles dropped the close ball game when DCG scored in the 24th minute of the first half. The Eagles record now stands at 7-4 and 2-3 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, and the loss marks the end of a five game winning streak.

The Pella Christian girls play next on Saturday at the SE Polk Tournament against PCM and Marshalltown before returning home next Monday against Ottumwa. The boys are at home Thursday against Carlisle.
